Intersection of Medical Acupuncture and Neurology

Presenting HMI’s Spring 2026 intermediate-level medical acupuncture virtual course :

Treating the Problems Behind the Problem

New Tools and a New Synthesis

HMI is enrolling for a new VIRTUAL course – Treating the Problems Behind the Problem: New Tools and a New Synthesis.

The course offers a variety of approaches to integrating psycho-spiritual treatments with the management of physical illness, injury, chronic pain, post-traumatic stress, palliative and end of life care.  We will also discuss management of life transitions, grief, anger, and fear states.  Treatment strategies will include use of Curious Meridians, Ghost points, Spirit points, Outer Bladder Line, Hua Tuo and Luo points, Triangular Equilibrations and advanced auricular protocols.

Treatment sequencing will generally follow and expand the ‘stress algorithm’ framework, i.e. calming then clearing, then symptom management, and ‘the problems behind the problem’.

The course will deepen the practitioner’s understanding of Medical Acupuncture as well as Chinese medical concepts and facilitate more effective management of a variety of medical problems and life challenges.

Traditional, historical and anecdotal information will be considered and clearly differentiated from peer reviewed evidence when available.

Course tuition includes a copy of the related textbook “Treating Problems Behind the Problem” by Joseph Helms, MD (2024).

Please join us for this unique and widely-applicable course!
