Presenting HMI’s Fall 2026 intermediate-level Medical Acupuncture virtual course :
3 Common Problems
Depression, Allergy, and Low Back Pain
Online course registration will open soon. Please check back shortly!
HMI is now enrolling for a new VIRTUAL course focused on three common problems in clinical practice – Depression, Allergy, and Low Back Pain.
This course continues our popular series on common problems. Depression, low back pain, and allergy complaints are each increasingly common worldwide, carrying major economic and quality-of-life burdens. Medications and standard interventions can be helpful, but outcomes are variable, benefits are sometimes modest, and side effects frequently limit treatment options.
In this evidence-informed program, we will explore how acupuncture can enhance conventional approaches by addressing underlying mechanisms, including neuroendocrine regulation, inflammatory signaling, mast cell activation, pain modulation, and the interaction between classical theory and modern neuroanatomy.
The faculty will discuss current peer-reviewed research and show how to translate the evidence into practical clinical decision making. The course will examine common depression subtypes, the role of acupuncture in regulating mast cell activity in allergic conditions, and a more precise approach to low back pain based on specific anatomic pathologies. Point specific treatment strategies will be offered throughout.
By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of these high-impact conditions and a stronger framework for improving clinical outcomes with acupuncture.
Please join us for this clinically relevant and widely-applicable course!
The course will be presented in two parts:
Part I: Streaming Video Lectures
HMI teaching faculty have prepared a series of video lectures totaling 3.5 hours. These video lectures will be available for streaming online at your convenience beginning September 18.
